SonoSurgery Project with Innovate UK

The SonoSurgery technique allows for outpatient treatments that take less than 10 minutes, requiring no stitches, and enabling patients to resume their normal activities immediately. This advancement is particularly significant in light of the current challenges faced by the NHS, such as extensive waiting lists for routine operations. By reducing costs, improving efficiency, and expediting patient recovery, our technique offers substantial benefits to the post-Covid economy.

Expanding Horizons: New Applications

The UK-Swiss team behind this project plans to extend the Spirecut approach to other conditions, including Dupuytren’s disease, De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, and tennis elbow. Key efforts in this expansion include:

  • Recruiting a Joint UK-Swiss Expert Panel: Led by Sovereign Medical Limited, this panel will consist of orthopedic surgeons and interventional radiologists tasked with assessing the suitability of Spirecut technology for these additional applications.

  • Conducting a Delphi Exercise: This structured communication technique will be employed to evaluate the technical feasibility and economic impact of the new techniques.

  • Developing a Health Economic Model: Collaborating with the University of Southampton, we aim to create a model that aids decision-making for further research and investment. This model will provide market value estimates and cost-effectiveness analyses for the NHS, informed by published information, real-world evidence, and expert opinions.

Building a Foundation for the Future

The ultimate goal of this initiative is to lay the groundwork for a future submission to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), aiming for a recommendation for NHS adoption. We believe that our innovative approach will not only advance patient care but also significantly contribute to medical innovation.

Looking Ahead

We are excited about the advancements and positive impact this project will bring. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and expert collaboration, Spirecut is poised to transform outpatient care, making procedures safer, faster, and more cost-effective.
