Spirecut attended the Lyon Ultrasound Course for Hand and Wrist on 16–17 December 2025 at Hotel Fourviere, under the patronage of FESSH. The program brought together surgeons, radiologists, and educators focused on practical ultrasound and minimally invasive pathways.
What worked best
Compact theory blocks followed by open Q&A
Hands-on stations with eight ultrasound machines, one faculty per machine
High-fidelity phantoms for guided injections
Case reviews linking imaging to decisions and outcomes
Key content
Ultrasound fundamentals: setup, probes, settings, image optimization, early AI perspectives
Regional imaging: wrist, fingers, thumb, including tendons, nerves, fractures, ligaments, osteoarthritis, trigger finger, soft tissue lesions
Guided interventions: TMC, De Quervain, ganglion cysts
Procedure focus: trigger finger release and carpal tunnel release, decision trees, safety checks, post-release ultrasound expectations
Takeaways
Structured education, simulation, and integrated imaging-to-intervention workflows accelerate safe adoption and improve consistency.
Thank you to Dr. Xavier Gueffier and the international faculty for two days of excellent teaching and exchange.
